On vacation

11:34 PM

We spent last week in the French Pyrenee mountains (I figured that phrase would conjure up more envy than just saying, "we were in the mountains!") We stayed at a house with my BIL and SIL and their little boy. The girls had a blast with their cousin and being able to run around in some grass without having it being littered by the result of every city dogs bowel movements. The view was absolutely beautiful. It is amazing the difference between the French side and the Spanish side. France being to the north their side is so green and fresh. The Spanish side desert within just a few kilometers. The downside of the French side is that there is more rain (which we enjoyed for 2 days) and it is a bit chillier (we pulled out the winter pijamas), but it is certainly worth seeing. So much so that I am sure we will be going again at some point during our stay in France.

Right now we are in Spain visiting the rest of the family. The girls are doing fine now although the first few days they were a bit off kilter. Queenie is between wanting to be a big girl and go potty (more than pee) on the potty like her cousin and still dealing with the fear tha she has of sitting on the potty and pushing it out. So in the days since we left (two Saturdays ago) she went potty twice. And they were both incrutiatingly painful moments. Queenie didn't have much fun either. She purposely made herself contipated by holding it in because she wanted neither diaper nor potty and then had a heck of a time getting it out. I had been trying to avoid the "medicine up the butt" (as I explain it to Queenie) by giving her prune juice, pears, kiwi, whole grains, etc, but it was all to no avail. But last night was the end of it all. Glycerine is our friend in the end, right? Well, Queenie doesn't think so but I am sure her stomach thanks me.

Today looks a bit cloudy so I am not sure what we are going to do with 5 grandkids under the age of 4 in a tiny city apartment. Go crazy? Sounds about right.
